Meet Michael Craig.
CLUB PRESIDENT · ANTRIM COAST LIONS CLUB
Helping bring people together in the service of our Antrim Coast community.
Service starts with people.
I am Michael Craig, the current President of Antrim Coast Lions Club. I joined the club in 2006, along with my wife Margaret, following a wine and cheese evening. Having been involved as a volunteer, I saw the great work the Lions were doing and decided to become a fully fledged member of the club.
Like most people, I was apprehensive about what my new role in the club would entail. However, I soon realised I had no need to worry. I was welcomed with open arms, and any fears I had were put to rest.
I had joined a club where companionship and help were freely given, and where every event or challenge was approached with gusto and joy. Everyone supported each other and used their skills for the benefit of the club and the wider community.
After 20 years, I am proud to be a member of Antrim Coast Lions Club.
A family calling.
For Michael, being a Lion is a family calling. His wife, Margaret Craig, is the club’s immediate past president and a long-serving club secretary. His brother-in-law, Bernard Black, and sister-in-law, Catherine Rosbotham, are also members of Antrim Coast Lions Club.
That shared commitment brings a special sense of continuity to the club: family, friendship and service passed on through the people who give their time to help others.
A Lion with a sense of adventure.
Michael is a keen hiker. In May 2023, our club shared his participation in the 500-mile Camino trail in Spain — a memorable chapter in his life beyond club meetings and community events.
